Healing In Creativity & Connection
Welcome!
My name is Dany Sojourner, and I am a Registered Associate Marriage & Family Therapist (CA, #164939). I hold a Master’s in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Expressive Arts Therapy from California Institute of Integral Studies, as well as a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from UC Berkeley. I am currently pursuing post-graduate certification as a Registered Expressive Arts Therapist.
I offer weekly individual, couple, and family sessions for ages 4+. Services are available in-person in my North Oakland office (Heart In Balance) or virtually throughout California.

It’s easy to fall out of touch with the things that matter to us in a fast-paced and overwhelming world. You may be moving through life feeling permanently overburdened, stressed, exhausted, traumatized, and disconnected from yourself and the world around you. There’s a better life out there that you haven’t yet lived, and my aim is to help you find it.
As a lifelong multidisciplinary artist, I am intimately familiar with the healing power of our creative voices. Your own voice already carries with you all of your stories, your laughter, your tears, your desires, and your hopes and dreams. Through thoughtful integration of Psychodynamic, Narrative, Transpersonal-Existential, and Emotionally-Focused talk therapy, we will work together to uncover your life’s hidden gems in order to resource yourself with your strengths and supports. I provide a flexible range of expressive/experiential and somatic tools to help you reconnect with your bodily autonomy, and embody your authentic self with confidence and courage.
I most frequently work with relationship difficulties, self-esteem issues, stress and burnout, and identity challenges. I am especially passionate about creating an empowering space for those who are LGBTQIA+, neurodivergent, chronically ill/disabled, and with multilayered cultural identities. My aim is to offer neurotype-affirming and culturally-humble care, through fostering relational safety together within the therapeutic relationship as a grounding anchor for lasting change outside the therapy room.
My previous professional experience with coordinating intensive outpatient programs for adolescents and young adults offers a backdrop of deep awareness and insights on the issues younger generations face today—including social media use, job market & career challenges, escapism through media & gaming, body image stressors, and ecological grief.
If you feel called to explore your path with curiosity and compassion, I invite you to reach out. Let’s connect and see how we might work together to support your journey toward greater alignment and healing.
